MEET CRAIG

My Lifelong Commitment to Poway and Its Youth

I have called Poway home for over 33 years, this city means more to me than just a place to live. Alongside my wife, we have raised seven children here, all of whom attended PUSD schools. Poway's vibrant community and shared values have significantly shaped my life, inspiring me to dedicate myself to enhancing the future of its youth.

Dedication Beyond the Classroom

My commitment to our youth extends well beyond school board meetings and parent-teacher conferences. With over 40 years of service dedicated to young minds and hearts, I have strived to be a leader in various capacities:

  • In Scouting Leadership, I've spent decades guiding young scouts to develop responsibility, leadership, and promote community service.

  • My involvement in youth programs includes the sports and seasons of baseball, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, volleyball and track and field, where I've played roles in cheering, guiding, and mentoring. As a parent and volunteer, I have also supported school and community arts from elementary school bands to advanced high school choir and amateur children’s theater.

  • For over four decades, I've also served the youth in my church, fostering spiritual growth and community values.

This broad engagement underlines my genuine care and understanding of the challenges and joys in raising children today. I promise to help parents and families nurture our community's youth toward success, happiness and productivity.

An Analytical Mind with a Heart for Service

Professionally, I've spent the last 25 years as a software engineer in Rancho Bernardo and Poway. I have sharp analytical skills and I address problems logically and with real evidence and data. Solutions that we adopt must withstand rigorous analysis, they must be effective and efficient. When adopted solutions prove faulty they should be re-evaluated and changed.

But my focus isn't solely on numbers and data. It's about people. I am a problem solver, I value diverse perspectives and ideas and I know that the best solutions arise from the community.

My Vision for PUSD's Future

I remember when PUSD was a beacon of educational excellence. I've witnessed the challenges the district faces and believe that with strong, active, dedicated, and visionary leadership, PUSD can reclaim its esteemed reputation. As a parent who has deeply appreciated the involvement of educators and fellow parents in the past, I feel compelled to step up. For me, the time to act and make a difference is now.

I invite you to join me in my mission to bring PUSD back to the pinnacle where it belongs.
